Kaduna State

By virtue of Executive Order 001 of 6th July, 2015 i.e. Kaduna State Ministries Restructuring Notice, which reduced the number of Ministries from (19) to (13).

The Ministry of Local Government and that of Chieftaincy Affairs were merged together and renamed as Ministry of Local Government Affairs and saddled with the following functions:

  1. Promoting, supervising, regulating and co-ordinating the activities of the 23 Local
  2. Government Areas in the State.
  3. Managing all matters relating to the Traditional Institutions in the State.
  4. Proposing policies and programmes aimed at enhancing security and maintenance of Law and Order as well being and betterment of various communities in the State.

Mission

To be a leading organization providing advisory services in the areas of development planning to the 23 Local Governments in a responsive, effective and efficient manner for the rapid socio-economic development of the State.

Mandates

  1. Promoting, supervising, regulating and coordinating the activities of the 23 Local Government Areas in the State and related agencies for Local Government Administration;
  2. Managing all matters relating to the traditional Institutions in the State;
  3. Advising and supervising Emirate/traditional Councils in carrying out their duties;
  4. Proposing policies and programmes to enhance maintain and sustain Law and Order including the well-being of various communities in the State.

Vision

To provide a dynamic and responsive mechanism to improve the lives of the residents of the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
